who we are

The Veterinarians on the Road Project was born in 2008. It was  conceived by Dr. Amélia Oliveira and the main objective is to take veterinary care to isolated places, of difficult access and in a situation of social vulnerability .

We have already carried out actions in 3 countries , 8 states and 60 Brazilian cities . In these actions, more than 80 thousand castrations were carried out  in abandoned and at -risk animals.

The abandonment rate of dogs and cats has been growing in recent years. The homeless animal population is a socio-environmental issue that can only be resolved in a transversal way, uniting the areas of health, education and the environment. Ethical-population control is the direct answer to this problem, in addition to allowing abandoned animals to have dignity and respect.

Hundreds of people do not have access to qualified veterinary services. Out of respect for animals, above all, we provide care at the lowest possible cost to enable more people to have access to veterinary services and can properly care for their animals.

We carry out professional improvement actions for students and veterinarians through courses, workshops, lectures, workshops and training. If you are interested in any of these activities, please contact us!

"

14 years ago I decided to change my life. I realized that only going to the field, taking the road, would I be able to contribute to reducing the abandonment of animals. Bringing adequate veterinary treatment along with information and knowledge to places at social risk was the path I chose to take.

Since then, I have traveled throughout Brazil and even other countries, carrying out actions of ethical-population control and massive clinical care. All this work, in addition to giving dignity to abandoned animals, also allows the exchange of information, construction of new knowledge, so that we can directly contribute to transforming public policy that concerns the animal cause.
